Scientific Name: Aulonocara sp. (Marble Peacock Hybrid)

Description: A colourful African cichlid featuring distinctive marbled patterns of blue, orange, red, yellow and darker markings. Each fish displays a unique combination of colours and patterns. Marble Peacocks are active, attractive aquarium fish that develop increasingly vibrant colouration as they mature.

Origin: Captive-bred hybrid originating from African Peacock Cichlids (Aulonocara spp.) native to Lake Malawi, Africa.

pH: Approximately 7.5–8.5

Temperature: Around 24–28°C

Adult Size: 12–15 cm, depending on the hybrid strain.

Lifespan: 5–10 years with proper care.

Food: Omnivorous. Feed high-quality African cichlid pellets, spirulina-based flakes, frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp and occasional vegetable-based foods. Provide a varied, balanced diet and avoid excessive fatty or protein-rich foods.

Compatibility: Semi-aggressive African cichlid. Best kept with similarly sized, moderately tempered Lake Malawi cichlids that require comparable water conditions. Suitable tank mates may include other Peacock Cichlids and selected peaceful to moderately aggressive Haplochromines. Males can become territorial, particularly during breeding. Avoid small community fish and highly aggressive Mbuna species.

Habitat: A spacious, well-filtered aquarium with hard, alkaline water, good oxygenation and stable water conditions. Provide a sandy substrate, rock formations, caves and open swimming areas.
