Description:
A lively, attractive schooling tetra with a golden to copper-coloured body and distinctive silvery-white tips on its fins. Males generally develop stronger copper colouring, while females tend to be paler and more silvery. Unlike many tetras, Silver Tips lack an adipose fin.

South America — native to the São Francisco River basin in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Food:
Omnivorous. Feed quality tropical flakes or small pellets supplemented with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia and bloodworms.

Compatibility:
Generally peaceful and suitable for community aquariums with other active, similarly sized fish. Best kept in aschool of at least 6, preferably 8–10 or more. Small groups may become fin-nippy, so avoid slow-moving or long-finned tank mates.

Habitat:
Prefers an aquarium with plenty of open swimming space, planted areas, driftwood and some shaded cover. A darker substrate and subdued lighting can help enhance their colour.
