  • Tank size: 75 L minimum for a small group; larger is better.
  • Group size: Keep 6 or more, ideally 8–10. They are schooling fish and can become stressed when kept alone.
  • Temperature: 22–28°C (72–82°F).
  • pH: Around 6.0–7.5.
  • Water hardness: Soft to moderately hard water is suitable.
  • Aquascape: Provide plants, driftwood, and some shaded areas, while leaving open swimming space.
  • Filtration: Use a gentle-to-moderate filter with stable water flow and good oxygenation.
  • Diet: Omnivorous. Feed quality tropical flakes or small pellets, supplemented with frozen/live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms. Small portions once or twice daily are appropriate.
  • Tank mates: Generally peaceful and suitable for a community aquarium. Avoid very aggressive fish or fish small enough to be harassed/eaten.
  • Behaviour: They have an unusual diagonal/head-up swimming posture, which is normal for this species.
  • Adult size:Approximately 5-6cm
