Fluid Monitoring Module (FMM)
The FMM is a multi-purpose device that, with the help of various accessories enables to you to monitor your fluid.  It can be found in any of the kits above or purchased separately.

FMM Features:

Four FMM Accessory Ports

A built-in audible alarm

One DC24V output for 24V devices like the PMUPv2 and solenoid

Two Aquabus ports

Compatible with the A1, A2, and A3 Series Apex

The Neptune Systems FMM (Fluid Monitoring Module) is a versatile expansion module designed to enhance the capabilities of Neptune Systems Apex aquarium controllers. It provides a central hub for various fluid-related sensors and accessories, offering aquarists greater control, monitoring, and automation over their tanks.

Key features, functions, and compatibility:

Multi-purpose Design: The FMM is highly adaptable, allowing users to connect a mix of different sensors and accessories to its four dedicated ports.
Flow Monitoring:
Works with various flow sensors (e.g., 1/4", 1/2", 1", 2" sizes) to measure the flow rate in plumbing lines.
Ideal for monitoring return pumps, reactor pumps (carbon/GFO/biopellet), UV sterilizers, and RODI (Reverse Osmosis Deionization) water lines.
Enables alerts if flow stops or drops, indicating pump failure, clogs, or issues with equipment.
Allows for fine-tuning flow rates to optimize reactor performance.
Optical Water Level Sensing:
Supports one to four optical water level sensors.
Used for applications like automatic top-off (ATO) systems, monitoring sump levels, low water levels in ATO reservoirs, full skimmate waste containers, and even automating saltwater mixing.
Optical sensors are generally more reliable than traditional float switches.
Leak Detection:
Connects up to four leak detection probes (solid surface or low-profile for carpets).
Provides early warning of leaks to prevent significant damage.
Can trigger automated responses, such as shutting off pumps.
DC24 Accessory Port:
Includes a 24V DC accessory port that can power and control devices like Neptune Systems' PMUP (Practical Multi-Purpose Utility Pump) and solenoid valves.
Requires an external 24V DC power supply (sold separately) to utilize this port.
Integration with Apex Controller:
Connects to the Apex system via an AquaBus cable.
Allows for real-time monitoring of all connected sensors through the Apex Fusion dashboard.
Enables programmable automation based on sensor readings (e.g., turning off equipment if a leak is detected, triggering ATO).
Audible Alarm: Features a built-in audible alarm for immediate notifications of critical events.
Future Possibilities: Designed with expandability in mind, allowing for potential future sensor types and integrations.

Compatibility:

The FMM is compatible with all Neptune Systems Apex models, including:

Apex (2016)
Apex Classic
Apex Lite
Apex Jr.
A1, A2, and A3 Series Apex (A3 Jr, A3 Apex, A3 Pro)

Setup and Installation:

Setting up the FMM is generally straightforward due to its plug-and-play nature with the Apex system:

1.  Mounting: Mount the FMM module in a suitable location, often on your controller board.
2.  AquaBus Connection: Connect the FMM to any open AquaBus port on your Apex network using the included AquaBus cable. You do not need to power down the Apex system to do this.
3.  Sensor Connection: Plug the desired sensors (flow, optical level, leak detection) into the FMM's four sensor ports. The FMM automatically detects the type of sensor connected to each port.
4.  Firmware Update (if necessary): Ensure both your Apex controller and the FMM module are running the latest firmware versions via Apex Fusion.
5.  Configuration (Apex Fusion): Use the Apex Fusion web app to configure the connected sensors and set up rules, alerts (email, SMS), and automated actions based on the data. Neptune Systems often provides "Tasks" within Apex Fusion to simplify common setups like leak detection or ATO.

The FMM is often included in various Neptune Systems kits, such as the Leak Detection Kit (LDK), Flow Monitoring Kit (FMK), and Auto-Top Off Kit (ATK), but can also be purchased separately.
