Description:

The Marble Zebra Cichlid is a colourful African mbuna featuring a distinctive marbled pattern of orange, blue, white and dark blotches. An active and territorial fish, it adds colour and personality to established Lake Malawi cichlid aquariums.

Origin:

Lake Malawi, East Africa. Marbled varieties are also commonly captive-bred.

pH:

Approximately 7.5–8.5.

Temperature:

Around 24–28°C.

Adult Size:

Approximately 10–15 cm.

Lifespan:

Approximately 5–10 years with proper care.

Food:

Primarily herbivorous. Feed quality spirulina-based cichlid pellets or flakes, supplemented with vegetable matter. Avoid excessive high-protein foods.

Compatibility:

Territorial and moderately aggressive. Best kept with similarly sized, robust Lake Malawi mbuna. Avoid peaceful community fish and provide plenty of hiding places to reduce aggression.

Habitat:

Requires a spacious aquarium, with rock formations, caves and a sandy substrate. Strong filtration, good oxygenation and stable alkaline water conditions are essential.
