A successful bristle worm trap usually follows the "one-way funnel" principle.
The Entrance: Cone-shaped entry. Worms crawl in easily but struggle to find the small hole to get back out.
The Bait Chamber: A long cylinder or rectangular box.
Scent Vents: Small holes (0.5mm – 1mm) along the body to let the "smell" of the bait waft into the water column.
Removable Cap:One end snaps off on so you can clear out the "harvest" without touching them (those bristles sting!).
Strategy for Use
The Bait: Use something high-protein and "stinky" like a piece of frozen shrimp or a high-quality sinking pellet.
The Timing: Bristle worms are nocturnal. Place the trap after the lights go out and retrieve it before they come back on.
Placement: Nestled it against the rockwork where you’ve seen them active.
