AquaDepot Ludwigia atlantis - Live Plant - Tissue Culture

Ludwigia 'Atlantis' Tissue Culture is a unique and eye-catching stem plant featuring variegated leaves with shades of green, yellow, orange and pink. The elongated leaves develop vibrant colouration under favourable conditions, creating a striking contrast that makes this plant an outstanding feature in any aquascape. Its upright growth habit and colourful foliage make it ideal for the midground or background, where it adds both height and visual interest. With regular pruning, Ludwigia 'Atlantis' develops into a dense, colourful cluster that becomes a true focal point.

Care Requirements:

Ludwigia 'Atlantis' is best suited to intermediate and experienced aquascapers, as it requires stable conditions to achieve its best growth and colouration. Moderate to high lighting, combined with the addition of CO₂, will encourage vibrant variegation and compact growth. Plant individual stems into a nutrient-rich substrate, spacing them slightly apart to ensure good light penetration. Regular fertilisation, particularly with iron and trace elements, supports healthy growth and maintains its vivid colours. Trim the stems frequently to promote branching and a bushier appearance, and replant healthy cuttings to expand the display. Consistent water quality and regular maintenance will help this distinctive plant flourish.

Potential Issues and Tips:

  • Melting: Newly introduced tissue culture plants can sometimes experience some melting (loss of leaves) as they adapt to the new environment. Providing stable water parameters and good lighting can minimise this.
  • Algae: Imbalances in light, nutrients, or CO2 can lead to algae growth on the leaves. Maintaining proper balance and performing regular water changes can help prevent this.
  • Colour Loss: Insufficient lighting or nutrient deficiencies (especially iron) can cause the vibrant red colour to fade.
  • Trimming: Regular trimming is crucial for maintaining the desired shape and preventing the plant from overshadowing lower-growing species. Trim the tops and replant them to create a denser bush.

Tissue cultures are in a 5cm container - simply rinse gel and plant.

In ideal conditions, shelf life will be approx 4 weeks.
