Limnophila aromatica 'Kalimantan Mini' is a compact and highly attractive cultivar of the popular aromatica species, prized for its smaller leaf size and exceptional colouration. Under high lighting, its whorled leaves display a stunning gradient from bright green at the base to vivid pink and purple at the growing tips, creating a striking visual effect in the midground or background of a planted aquarium. As a bonus, the foliage releases a pleasant herbal fragrance when handled — a unique sensory experience among aquatic plants.

Tips for Success

Limnophila aromatica 'Kalimantan Mini' produces its best pink and purple colouration under high lighting with CO₂ injection and a comprehensive fertiliser regime including iron and micronutrients. Plant in groups of 5–10 stems for maximum visual impact. Trim regularly and replant tops to encourage bushy, dense growth and prevent the lower stems from becoming bare. Its compact size compared to standard aromatica makes it particularly well-suited to mid-sized aquariums where a full-sized stem plant would be too dominant.
