AquaDepot Ludwigia glandulosa - Live Plant - Tissue Culture

Ludwigia glandulosa Tissue Culture is a striking stem plant prized for its deep red to burgundy foliage and upright growth habit. Its elongated, pointed leaves create a bold vertical accent that contrasts beautifully against green aquatic plants. Under high lighting and with adequate nutrients and CO₂, the rich red coloration becomes more intense, making it an eye-catching feature in midground or background plantings. As it matures, regular pruning encourages fuller, bushier growth for an even more impressive display.

Care Requirements:

Ludwigia glandulosa is best suited to intermediate and experienced aquascapers, as it performs best under high lighting with the addition of CO₂. A nutrient-rich substrate and regular dosing of fertilisers help maintain strong growth and vibrant red colouration. Plant individual stems with a small gap between each to allow light to reach the lower leaves. Trim regularly to encourage branching and prevent the stems from becoming leggy. Stable water parameters and consistent maintenance will keep this plant healthy and displaying its best colour throughout the aquarium.

Potential Issues and Tips:

• Melting: Newly introduced tissue culture plants can sometimes experience some melting (loss of leaves) as they adapt to the new environment. Providing stable water parameters and good lighting can minimise this.
• Algae: Imbalances in light, nutrients, or CO2 can lead to algae growth on the leaves. Maintaining proper balance and performing regular water changes can help prevent this.
• Colour Loss: Insufficient lighting or nutrient deficiencies (especially iron) can cause the vibrant red colour to fade.
• Trimming: Regular trimming is crucial for maintaining the desired shape and preventing the plant from overshadowing lower-growing species. Trim the tops and replant them to create a denser bush.

Tissue cultures are in a 5cm container - simply rinse gel and plant.

In ideal conditions, shelf life will be approx 4 weeks.

• Do not remove lid or contamination will occur
• Keep in well lit area
• Storage temperate should not exceed 30°C

Each pot is 50mm in diameter and packed full of healthy plants.
