Neptune Systems Practical Multi-Purpose Utility Pump - Version 2 (PMUPV2)

2 items left

The PMUP Version 2 is a 24VDC submersible pump designed for use in aquariums. It is built to connect directly to the DC24 accessory ports on either the 1Link module or the Energy Bar 832. This pump is versatile and can be used for various tasks in aquarium maintenance, with the most common applications being auto-top-off systems and media reactors.

Key features of the PMUP Version 2 include:

Out-of-water/Auto Shutoff Feature: This prevents the pump from running dry, protecting it from damage when the water level is too low.

No Tip Design: This design ensures the pump stays securely in place, avoiding any tipping that could affect its performance.

The Neptune Systems Practical Multi-Purpose Utility Pump - Version 2 (PMUPV2) is a compact, versatile, and intelligent 24VDC submersible pump specifically designed to work seamlessly within the Neptune Systems Apex ecosystem. It's a significant improvement over the original PMUP, incorporating features that enhance reliability and ease of use.

Direct Apex Integration (DC24V Port):

The PMUPV2 is designed to plug directly into the DC24V accessory ports found on Neptune Systems' FMM (Fluid Monitoring Module), 1Link module, or the Energy Bar 832 (EB832).
This direct connection means it's fully controllable by your Apex system, just like any other outlet on an Energy Bar. You can turn it on/off, schedule its operation, and link its behavior to various Apex sensor readings or conditions.
Note: It does not come with its own power supply and must be powered by one of the Apex modules with a DC24V port.
Multi-Purpose Utility: As its name suggests, the PMUPV2 is incredibly versatile and can be used for a wide array of aquarium tasks:

Automatic Top-Off (ATO): This is arguably its most popular application. Its compact, vertical design with a bottom intake and top output makes it ideal for dropping into RODI water reservoirs or jugs.

Media Reactors: It's an excellent pump for driving various media reactors (carbon, GFO, biopellet), providing sufficient head pressure to push water through the media.
Saltwater Mixing: Can be used to circulate water in a mixing station or transfer newly mixed saltwater.

Dosing (e.g., Kalkwasser): While dedicated dosing pumps (like the DOS) are generally preferred for precise dosing, the PMUP can be used for bulk dosing of solutions like kalkwasser.

Water Changes: Can assist with small water changes, either by pumping out old water or pumping in new.
Improved Reliability and Safety Features (Version 2 Enhancements):

Automatic Shut-off When Dry:This is a crucial upgrade. The PMUPV2 has built-in sensing that detects if it's running without water and will automatically shut itself off to prevent damage from dry running. This is a common failure mode for many small pumps used in ATOs.
Over-Temperature Protection: The pump includes circuitry to prevent overheating, further extending its lifespan and ensuring safe operation.

Removable Screen:The intake screen is easily removable, making cleaning and maintenance much simpler than with many other small utility pumps. This helps maintain efficiency and prevents clogs.

Stands Upright: The design allows it to stand upright securely in a container, preventing it from tipping over and potentially sucking in air.
Performance Specifications:

Output Flow: Approximately 100 gallons per hour (GPH) at 0 feet of head.

Max Head: Can push water up to 14 feet vertically, which is impressive for such a compact pump. This allows for flexible placement of your RODI reservoir (e.g., in a basement or lower cabinet) relative to your display tank.

Power Consumption:Efficient, typically using less than 20W of power (often around 17W).

Output Connection: Features a smooth 3/8" (9.5mm) output, making it easy to connect to standard silicone tubing or push-fit connectors.

Compact Design:

Small dimensions (around 11.6 cm H x 5.7 cm Diameter) allow it to fit into tight spaces, small reservoirs, or inside reactor chambers.
Why Choose the PMUPV2?

The PMUPV2 is a prime example of Neptune Systems' philosophy: intelligent integration. Instead of a standalone pump that you plug into a regular outlet, the PMUPV2 leverages the Apex's control capabilities. This allows for:

Advanced Automation: Use Apex's conditional programming to control the pump based on liquid level sensors (like LLS or OS-1), flow sensors (FS-25), time schedules, feed modes, or leak detection.

Safety:The dry-run and over-temperature protection, combined with Apex's monitoring and alerts, provide superior safety for your equipment and home.
Convenience: All control and monitoring are centralized within Apex Fusion.
