Betapet Macropore 2 Litre Aquarium Filter Resin

Betapet Macropore is a rechargeable filter resin for aquariums, fish tanks and ponds. Used as water-polishing filter media, it removes tannins and nitrogenous waste to help keep your water clear.

If driftwood has given your aquarium a tea-coloured tint, Macropore helps remove those tannin stains so you can enjoy a clearer view of your fish and aquascape.

Key benefits

  • Tannin removal: Helps reduce tea-coloured water stains from driftwood.
  • Water polishing: Improves water clarity in aquariums and ponds.
  • Waste removal: Removes nitrogenous waste that can break down into nitrite and nitrate.
  • Rechargeable media: Can be regenerated for reuse following the appropriate instructions for your setup.
  • Flexible placement: Can be used in canister filters, reactors and sump systems with good water flow.
  • Pack size: 2 litres.

How to use Macropore filter media

  1. Rinse the resin before use.
  2. Place it loosely in a very fine mesh filter media bag, sold separately, allowing water to flow through the resin.
  3. Position the bag in your filter or another area with good water flow.
  4. Monitor the resin's colour. A dark brown colour indicates it is time to recharge.

For canister filters, keeping a second batch of Macropore lets you rotate the media while one batch is being recharged.

Recharging and ongoing aquarium care

Recharging methods differ for freshwater, marine and heavily tannin-stained systems. Follow the manufacturer's current instructions for the appropriate method, concentrations, soaking times and rinsing before returning the resin to your aquarium.

Where a bleach-based recharge is specified, complete the required chlorine-neutralising steps and confirm the media is free of chlorine before reuse. Macropore does not replace regular water testing or routine aquarium water changes.
