Tunze Comline DOC Skimmer 9012.001 is designed for use in seawater from 200 litres to 1200 litres
The DOC Comline Skimmer 9012.001 from Tunze is a new take on the specialised internally mounted protein skimmer. Rated for aquariums from 200 to 1400 litres, the DOC Skimmer 9012 uses two magnets to secure the skimmer body to aquariums walls up to 15mm thick.
It comes complete with DC controller for better control in selection.
The heart of the DOC Skimmer 9012.001 is a Tunze Foamer 9012.40 which is internally mounted within the body of the skimmer. Tunze uses an interesting “Flash Skimming” technique coupled with true surface skimming and very fine bubbles to quickly remove protein and undesirable nutrients from the aquarium water, even as a stand alone filtration option for simplified marine and reef aquariums.
Noise canceling vibration pads in the magnet mount, an air silencer and a super quiet pump are all designed to make the DOC Skimmer as quiet as possible while a patented over-foaming protection system allows the new 9012 from Tunze to perform its best with minimal adjustments.
The DOC Skimmer 9012.001 is designed for use in seawater as well as mixed and soft coral.
The Comline DOC Skimmer 9012.001 is equipped with two Magnet Holders with a holding force for glass thicknesses up to 15mm.
The Comline DOC Skimmer 9012 is designed for use in seawater up to 1400 liters. It operates according to the Tunze Flash Skimming Principle and acquires the water through an efficient surface suction with a surface film removal, and can therefore also be used as a "stand-alone“ solution in the aquarium. The TUNZE Foamer generates large volumes of fine air bubbles with a diameter of between 0.1 to 0.3 mm (.0039 to .011 in.) and is especially quiet during the operation. The Comline DOC Skimmer with a magnet holder for glass up to a thickness of 15 mm is supplied installation-ready.
The “Flash skimming” principle enables highly efficient foam production. Organic-rich surface water is mixed thoroughly with small air bubbles in the TUNZE Foamer. On the surface of the air bubbles, pollutants such as protein, cellulose, dead cells, etc. are adsorbed immediately, the air bubbles are very fine, with a diameter between 0.1 and .3mm.
The water/air mixture expands and stabilizes in the skimmer cup reactor, the water returns to the aquarium, and the protein-loaded air bubbles spill over into the skimmer cup. The patented anti-overfoaming system intermediate chamber prevents the skimmer from verfoaming and controls the skimmer performance, depending on the water level and organic load. The particularly high efficiency of the “flash skimming” principle, compared to large skimmers with long contact time, is obtained because the substances adsorbed by the air bubbles are not released again, thus they don‘t return to the aquarium water.
